Treshnish - Extraordinary Memories from the Atlantic Ocean

There are something special with memories. Some of them are always in our minds, while others slowly but surely disappear...
During summer 2009 I spent some days at the Treshnish Isles and my time here gave me both breathtaking experiences as well as memories for life...


The Treshnish Isles is an archipelago of small islands and skerries at the west coast of Scotland. This archipelago is a part of the Inner Hebrides. The unique landscape of these islands offers a rich wildlife, over water as well as under water.


The reason why we came here was the basking shark. While recording different shark species for our film”Sharks in Cold Waters” we spent summer 2009 in the waters around the west coast of Scotland. In our search of the next biggest shark in the world, the basking shark, we spent some nights in a small bay of the Treshish Isles. This stay gave us much more experiences than we ever had been thinking of.


The Treshnish Isles are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, one of the reson for this is the huge population of cliff- and burrow-nesting seabirds. During our stay here we understand why.., the sea birds were everywhere...
These birds was not even afraid of us, they just looked at us and our cameras and gave us fantastic recording opportunities.


"Clown of the ocean" or "sea parrot", the puffin has got many nicknames... and the early morning sun gave us perfect shooting light of these beautiful birds...


The puffins are not only beautiful, these extraordinary birds seems quite romantic too...


This very special morning would soon show to be even more fantastic. While photographing all the wild sea birds we enjoyed the great view of the Atlantic ocean. And then we hardly could believe when we saw a huge basking shark slowly swimming at the surface.


The following hours we spent in the water together with this majestic creature...


Once again, the Treshnish Isles gave me both experiences and memories for life and with great expectations I am really looking forward to our new film- and sailing expedition next year...

Summer at the Swedish West Coast

The swedish west coast is well know for its beautiful red cliffs and salty water, but is there anything to see under the surface?


With the warm summer wind in our sails we sailed north along the coast line. This time we wanted to film the small red coral Swiftia rosea.




The destination of our sailing was Väderöarna, the Weatherislands. Here we found a nice place to stay with the boat, droped the anchor and started to get ready for to get into the water.




Finally we were ready for diving and after a short ride with the zodiac we went under the surface. While we are going deeper, the sun slowly disappear and replaces with a neverending darkness. And in the darkness the beautiful colours of the corals shows up...

Connemara - The Wild West of Ireland

At the west coast of Ireland there is a district called Connemara. This beautiful countryside is consisting of a broad peninsula between Killary Harbour and Kilkieran Bay in the west of County Galway. Here you will find a great variety of green hills, long sandy beaches, mysterious lakes, high mountains, deep valleys and a never ending view of the Atlantic ocean.

Connemara is well known for its dramatic landscape and ruff weather conditions. The coast line here offers a great scenery of dramatic precipices, caves, cliffs and weather isolated islands...





The Atlantic ocean is always close by and under the surface we explore many different and fascinating marine inhabitants. The deep kelp forests offers a great shelter and living area for many species. One of them, the lesser spotted dogfish (also called small-spotted catshark) gets here a god opportunity to find a protected area for their eggs, also called ”mermaid's purses” or ”devil's purses”.





At the sandy bottom we also see a majority of skates passing by while the great lobster suspicious is watching us from his shelter below.




Under water as well as over water, Connemara is always offering extraordinary experiences, beautiful scenery and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. Ireland is world famous for its friendly people and here in Connemara the people are really charming and easy going. And with the quotation - ”You don´t need to be crazy to live here, but it helps” I really do believe a life here would suit me... =)

The Infinity of the White Mountains

There is something special with the great winter landscape of the nationalpark in Børgefjell. Here you have high mountains and wide open spaces. But the dramatic lanscape turns even more fascinating when the white snow cover the great hights and frozen lakes.

















Børgefjells Nasjonalpark is a nationalpark located in Norway. This nationalpark offers a magnificent world of mountains and wilderness.



The soft white snow transform the wild area into a fabulous landscape. And the wide open spaces gives me the feeling of an endless, unforgettable paradise...

The Show of the Black Grouse

It is a cold night in april and I am hiding myself in a camouflage somewhere in the Scandinavian wilderness. Despite the darkness of the night the full moon is shining up the quiet, frozen lanscape.



The reason why I am here, all by my own, is that I want to experience the extraordinary dance of the black grouse. For many hours I am waiting in the silence...
... finally these beautiful birds start to show up. And while the morning sun slowly rises behind the mountains they continue thier energic show with great power and elegance...
